I am very sad to learn of Mrs. Knighton's passing. She was such a lovely person. I met her when I worked at the Lake Valhalla Club in Montville where she was a member for many years. I would see her each month when she came to my office to pick up a monthly newsletter or pay monthly bill. I enjoyed our talks, and she will be greatly missed. We, as Garden Club members always knew when Barbara was with us...at first, her beautiful white hair would light up the room, and that would be followed by her warm smile. She would be the one we would call if we needed help with a gardening question. The "secret" she gave me was to remember to water a new plant. She was also famous for bringing her wonderful Pavlova meringue to our Garden Club luncheons. As a new Chairman of a luncheon, I asked Barbara if she would bring a salad. She helpfully accepted that duty. When the President asked me what everyone was bringing, she was aghast that I had not asked Barbara to bring her Pavlova. That error was quickly remedied and the Pavlova was happily welcomed to the dessert table. We will miss her happy presence.

Oh how I loved this beautiful sister-in-law of mine—thanks to my love, Bill Knighton. Always enjoyed getting to see Barb and visit on the phone as she and I shared so many common interests like gardening and old family stories. She had a beautiful family whom I also love dearly. I love you, Barb. Rest in peace now and take care of your Ted and my Bill. Stephanie Knighton
