Obituary of Jose W Baez
Jose Baez, a devoted husband, loving father, and passionate caregiver, passed away peacefully at his home on June 29, 2023, surrounded by his family. He valiantly battled cancer for 14 years, inspiring all who knew him with his unwavering determination and strength.
Born on August 13, 1961, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, Jose dedicated his life to caring for others. For three decades, he served as the director of Saint Peters Orphanage, a residential treatment facility for young men. Through his dedicated work, he positively impacted countless lives, becoming a guiding light and changing the trajectory of many.
Despite his challenging health journey, Jose remained an active individual who cherished fitness and spent much of his time tending to his beloved garden. He was also a devoted fan of the New York Mets, passionately following their every game.
Jose’s love for his family was immeasurable. He was married to his cherished wife, Gloria, for 34 years, and their bond remained unbreakable until his final moments. Their son, Bryan, was the center of his world and a constant source of pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Báez, his son, Bryan Baez, his mother, Maria Rivera, his sister, Lupe Baez Ramos, his brother, Carlos de Jesus, and nephews Javier Chaparro, Fernando Ramos, and Anthony J. Ramos. The entire Giraldo family also mourns his loss.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the funeral visitation, which will be held on Saturday, July 1, from 11 AM to 2 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, located at 272 Route 10, Randolph, New Jersey. Following the visitation, a church service will take place at 2:30 PM at Saint Clement Church in Rockaway.
Jose will be laid to rest on Wednesday, July 5, at 2 PM in a burial service at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover, New Jersey. The address for the cemetery is 168 N. Sussex St., Dover, NJ 07801.
Jose Baez’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. His selflessness, resilience, and love will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
