Obituary of Janet Hatke

 Janet Hatke 1958 - 2023

Janet (Douglas) Hatke, age 64, of Green Pond, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center. During her 3 month battle with an unrelenting illness, Jan was constantly surrounded by her loving family and friends, and her devoted husband Bob, who never left her side.

Janet was born in Hoboken, NJ to George & Marilyn Douglas (deceased) on August 27, 1958. She lived briefly in Little Ferry, NJ, then moved with her parents and three brothers to Pompton Plains, NJ. She graduated from Pequannock Township High School and went on to attend the Wilfred Academy of Hair And Beauty Culture in Totowa, NJ. Following work for several other establishments, she joined Anselaines For Hair on Route 23 in Butler, NJ and had been a Stylist there for over 20 years, She was renowned for her superb styling skills, as well as her warm and wonderful conversation. Janet’s shining spirit is hard to describe, but so well known by anyone close to her. She was always optimistic and loved being around people. She was generous and kind, and would help anyone in need without hesitation. Being extremely proud of her children, she nourished a special bond with them, and made sure to find a good resolution when problems arose. Enjoying her grandchildren and entertaining friends were some of her favorite pastimes, and she was always up for a good chat. She could often be found drifting down the lake with Bob on a lazy summer’s day, or dancing the evening away to the music at the Yacht Club. She loved sitting on her dad’s memorial bench, taking in the beautiful views or snapping a stunning photo to share. Janet’s meticulous attention to detail was reflected not only by her work, but also her beautiful home and impeccable appearance. Loved by all, Janet left this world far too early and will be deeply missed, and long remembered.

Janet is survived by her husband Robert Hatke; son Mark Janis and his daughter Blake; son David Janis and his wife Marlene; stepdaughter Britta Eresman, her husband Nicholas and their sons Mason and Carter; and stepson Benjamin Hatke, his wife Oz and their daughters Willow and Hazel. Also surviving Janet are her 3 brothers; George Douglas and his wife Gayle; Robert Douglas and his wife Peggy; and twin brother Brian Douglas and his wife Susan.
