I had the privilege of working with Chris for over ten years. We traveled the world on high-priority projects that were important to the company and its employees. There is no one else I would rather be stuck with on a coach flight to China.
The first picture is at the entrance to a mine in Zhejiang – even with jet lag and local travel Chris always had a great attitude and smile. When we got to the hotel lobby Monday morning that week it was Sunday in the US and Super Bowl XLVI was on. Chris would have loved to be home with his family to watch the Giants beat the Pat’s – we all struggled with work-life balance. The second picture is Chris at the Forbidden City on our way to the Gobi desert in May 2012. The working conditions there were awful but Chris had a heart for people and never took advantage of anyone.
If the hotel had a fitness center you could count on Chris to be there. He had amazing physical strength, stamina, and energy which gave him a positive can-do attitude towards people and life. Always a true gentleman and role model, he never said a bad word about anyone. When the going got tough his favorite quote was: “improvise, adapt, and overcome”.
Chris was a committed father and husband and often spoke about Elisa, Nicholas, and Maria. We also talked about faith and religion. I once gave him a book called “The Case for Christ”. Having read it myself I can attest he clearly embodied Christ-like values in the way he lived and treated people.
My heart breaks for the loss of a true lifetime friend. Deepest condolences to Chris’s family, friends, and loved ones. Truly grateful for the memories and shared experiences and certain his legacy will live on.
