Obituary of Ellen Marie Candura
Ellen Marie (Pignato) Candura died peacefully in her sleep battling diabetes at the age of 70 on May 2nd, 2021. Born in Buffalo, NY on April 6, 1951, she moved with her family to Belleville, NJ in 1964. She graduated from Belleville High School in 1970 and was soon after married to her husband of 49 1/2 years on October 23rd, 1971. Ellen is survived by her husband Lewis J. Candura, Sr., also from Belleville. In 1977 they moved to Budd Lake in Mount Olive Township, New Jersey where they have lived for the last 44 years. Ellen was self-employed and retired in 2012 due to health issues. Her husband Lew retired as a business agent from Sprinkler Fitters, UA local 696, on December of 2015 which he is still a 50 year member. Ellen is also survived by three healthy, wonderful children. Their son Lewis J. Candura, Jr. of Long Valley, NJ Jacqueline (Candura) Bates of Columbia, MD and Gina (Candura) Purazzo of Middletown, NJ. She has seven grandchildren: Madison (11), Mia(9), Gavin(9), Emma(8), Laila(7), Max(5) and Ashli(2). Still living are her brother Richard Pignato of Daytona Beach, FL and her sister Johann (Pignato) DiCenzo of Rochester, NY and many nieces and nephews scattered from Buffalo, NY to Falls Church, VA. Ellen was the happiest, friendliest person always trying to help friends, strangers and many in Bill W’s rooms. The family will be receiving friends at the Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 NJ Route 10 W, Randolph, NJ 07869 (www.tuttlefh.com) 973-366-4700, between the hours of 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. A funeral mass will be held the following morning Thursday, May 6, at 10:30AM at Saint Jude’s RC Church, 17 Mount Olive Road, Budd Lake, NJ 07828.
There will not be an interment ceremony.
