Obituary of Flavia T. Brock

Please share a memory of Flavia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Flavia Brock died on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 after a short illness.  She was 87.

Flavia was born and raised in Dover, NJ where she resided her entire life.  Flavia graduated from Dover High School in 1952, and earned her BA in Elementary Education from William Patterson University, graduating in 1991.

Prior to marrying David Brock in 1963, Flavia worked at McGregor’s and Silver Burdette Publishing.  While raising their two daughters, Flavia taught part time at Dover Business College before starting her life long career working for the Dover Board of Education in 1977 as a Teacher’s Aide.  After retirement, Flavia continued to work for the Dover Board of Education as a Substitute Teacher until schools were closed to in person learning in March 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Flavia was very active in the local community and with Sacred Heart Parish in Dover.  She belonged to the College Club of Dover, the Dover Historical Society, and the Dover Seniors.  She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Rosary Society.  Flavia also taught CCD at Sacred Heart Church for over thirty years and served her parish family as a Lector, Eucharist Minister, and Usher.  She sang in the church choir and cooked a weekly dinner for the Parish priests for years.  Her culinary skills were impeccable; she enjoyed bringing “home baked goodies” to share with people everywhere she went.  She was also the very first and longtime “Grandparent Power” volunteer at Old Farmers Road School in Long Valley, NJ.

Above all, Flavia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother that loved her family unconditionally.  She also had a special place in her heart for each and every one of the countless children and faculty members with whom she worked during her forty-three-year career in Education.  She was most known for her kind heart, caring nature, and generous spirit.

Flavia is survived by her two daughters, Maria Brock and Flavianne Jacobs, son-in-law Larry Jacobs, and three grandchildren; Preston, Rachel and Levi.  She is predeceased by her husband, David Brock, her parents, Julio and Maria Tontodonati, and siblings Angelina Fulgro, Anntoinette Tribelli, Hermon Donati, Guerino Donati, Alfonso Donati, Josephine Magliocchetti, Violanda Tuscano, Americo Donati, and Theodore Donati.

Visitation will be at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM.  A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Dover on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 10 AM.  Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Wharton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Flavia’s memory to either the College Club of Dover, c/o Mary Inglis, 32 Rutan Drive, Dover, NJ 07801, or Catholic Daughters of the Americas, court #881, c/o Sally McCusker, 15 Arlene Lane, Dover, NJ 07801.
