I was so saddened to learn of Bernie’s passing. Our careers at the NJEA paralleled one another. He was a dedicated advocate for our members. Having both gone to high school in the Bronx we were able to share Bronx takes at staff meetings. May he RIP.
Heartfelt sympathy to Arlene and all of Bernie’s family. I’ll never forget all the help he gave us negotiating contracts in Hopatcong. His smile was infectious. I’m sure our “team” was responsible for a lot of his gray hair. He will be remembered with warmth and love.
I had was lucky enough to work at NJEA with Bernie it will be his amazing humor that I will remember most about him. He was a strong union advocate for Teachers and support professionals his keen mind always helped those around him think differently about an issue. May he Rest In Peace
