Obituary of Mary H Leidemann

Mary Helen Leidemann, of Morristown, died Nov. 23, 2016. She was 101.
Born in Forest City, PA. on April 5, 1915, she came of age in Depression-era New York City, where she met her husband, Frederick Leidemann.
After marriage, she lived the rest of her life in northern New Jersey, where she worked as a waitress at several restaurants and took great pride in the family she raised.
“She spent a large part of her life behind a restaurant counter working for nickel and dime tips to earn enough money to help lift her family into middle class and send her three children to college,” said her son, Michael.
“And no matter how tired she was, she always made sure each night to prepare a home-made dinner for the family and a hot breakfast the next morning,” he said.
For the last 20 years of her life, she lived at the Morris Hills Care Center in Morristown, where she was surrounded by many friends and a caring staff who always appreciated her upbeat and positive attitude.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Leidemann; two sisters, Angela and Rose Hauptman; two brothers, Frank and William Hauptman; a grandson, Jason Venner; and a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Venner.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Manger of Brick; and two sons, Michael, of Honolulu, Hawaii; and William, of The Villages, Fla. She is also by survived by a grandson, Jonathan Manger of Los Angeles, Calif.; one granddaughter, Carol Laffan of Holliday, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Ciara and Caiden Laffan, and Katarina Venner.
Visitation Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 11:00AM-12:00PM with a service following at 12:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (tuttlefh.com). Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover.
