Otto T. Miller, 81, formerly of Mine Hill, died on November 8, 2016 at the New Jersey Firemen’s Home, Boonton after a long illness.
Born and raised in Dover he married Alice Weber and moved to Mine Hill.
Otto spent most of his career working at Picatinny Arsenal, his last position as Industrial Specialist Supervisor. He then worked for the Department of Government Contracting. In retirement, he worked as the Mine Hill Fire Inspector.
Otto spent more than fifty years as a dedicated member of the Mine Hill Fire Department and served as Chief in 1974. He also served many years on the Mine Hill Planning Board. He had many talents and interests. He built the home in which he raised his family. He loved to hunt, fish and travel, especially on cruises with Alice, his wife of 50 years who predeceased him in 2005.
Otto is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Jim Mullin of Dover, daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Lou Marano of West Deptford and grandchildren Jessica Halayko (Paul) of Midland Park, Christen Verna (Anthony) of Philadelphia, Matthew Marano and Danielle Marano of West Deptford and great-granddaughter Anastasia Verna. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth H. Miller of Mine Hill and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation Friday, November 11, 2016, 4:00-8:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (tuttlefh.com). Funeral Service Saturday, November 12, 2016, 9:30AM also at the funeral home. Interment at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
