Obituary of Lillian Boyadjis

Lillian (Kyprios) Boyadjis passed from this life on October 17, 2013. She joins her husband Andreas in God's embrace. She died peacefully at home and surrounded by her four children. She is survived by those children (and their spouses), Chrystalla Daly, D.O. (Michael), Terrence A. Boyadjis, M.D. (Lorraine), Anthony A. Boyadjis, Esq. (Lauren), and Eleni Boyadjis, Esq. (John Gaudioso). She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Ryan Daly (Kara), Elisabeth Boyadjis, Tia Boyadjis, Jennifer Mantzas, Andrew Mantzas, Stephanie Daly, Hannah Boyadjis, Rachel Boyadjis, Zachary Daly and Spyro Mantzas, and by her two great grandchildren, Liam Daly and Andreas Renfrow-Daly, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, she met the love of her life across the street from her home, behind the counter of a luncheonette. After she married Andreas in 1951, they relocated to Morristown where she worked in the family business, the ANA Diner at the corner of Speedwell Avenue and Water Street. After Andreas completed law school and began his practice in 1964, (which he could not have accomplished without her tireless support), Lillian began a rewarding career spanning nearly four decades at Fairleigh Dickinson University, bringing her talents to the language lab, book store and registrar's office. While in its employ, she also attended the University.She was a founding member of Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, originally in Dover and presently in Randolph. In her more than half century of service, she was involved in nearly every aspect of parish life. Lovingly known as Kippy, she was a member of the Parish Council, Ladies Philoptochos Society (friends of the poor), Daughters of Penelope, AGAPE group (senior citizens) and assistant GOYA advisor (youth group). She was not only a member, but often a leader, rising to the position of District Governor of the Daughters of Penelope as well as Treasurer of the Parish Council. She was a pillar of the community who was a constant volunteer and organizer of dances, Greek festivals, and a myriad of organization functions.Over the years, she opened her home to literally dozens of family members who lived with the family while attending college or beginning a career. A woman who loved to entertain, she enjoyed hosting gatherings in her home of from 2 to 200 people. Her cooking skills were legendary, as many a college roommate could attest, delighting in the care packages from Momma Boyadjis. Her immense pride in her Greek heritage was eclipsed only be her fierce love of family. She will be sorely missed.Visitation is Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10 West, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com) from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The Funeral Service is Monday, October 21, 2013 at Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 1447 Sussex Turnpike, Randolph at 10:00 am. Interment at Locust Hill Cemetary, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 1447 Sussex Turnpike, Randolph.
