Obituary of Emil E. Fahrman

Teacher and Councilman Emil Fahrman died Tuesday, August 30, 2016, after a short illness, at Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clare’s Hospital, Dover. He was 93. He was born in Allentown, PA and he was a 61-year resident of Rockaway Township. He served in the Navy during World War II, primarily in the Mediterranean Theatre. He received his B.S. at Kutztown (now Kutztown University), his M.A. at Columbia University and his Supervisor Certification at Seton Hall. He began teaching in Pennsylvania before coming to New Jersey. Mr. Fahrman was a Fine Arts Teacher in Boonton, Dover High and Parsippany High Schools. He was an area chairman for 12 years in Parsippany covering the Fine Arts, Music and Home Economic Studies. Mr. Fahrman ran as a councilman when Rockaway Township changed to a Council/Mayor form of government. Before being elected twice, he was a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment. He also served 10 years on the Township Planning Board. He was an active member of St. Clement Pope and Martyr Church. He served on various committees and was the Maintenance person for many years covering Buildings and Grounds. He is survived by his sons Eric and his wife Nancy of Mifflinburg, PA, Thomas and his wife Cathy of Tampa, FL, his daughter Susan Royek and her husband Peter of Rockaway Twp., ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is predeceased by his wife Alice in 2010. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016, 4:00-8:00PM, at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (tuttlefh.com). Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clement Pope and Martyr Church, 10:00AM, Friday, September 2, 2016. Interment to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Clement Pope and Martyr Church, 154 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Dover, NJ 07801.
