Geronimo Torres, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his beloved family on Sun. August 21st. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador 1924 to Placido and Jacinta Torres. He came to New York in 1966 for a better life for his family and soon became a proud American Citizen. He had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling to foreign countries such as China, Japan, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela and many Mediterranean countries as a merchant seaman. He was athletic and was a professional boxer and soccer player in Ecuador in the 1950's. He enjoyed listening to his favorite music and playing his guitar. He retired as a professional house painter. He instilled his work ethic and desire to succeed in his three children and granddaughters. He was a resident of Rockaway Township after living in New York for many years. Geronimo was predeceased by his dear parents Placido Torres in 1930, and Jacinta Torres in 1978. He is survived by his wife Elena, son Fernando and his wife Wanda, daughters Azucena and Maritza, and her husband Jimmy, six granddaughters; Elena, Natalia, Christine, Meagan, Nicole and Caitlin, and sisters, Nastia and Julia along with several nieces and nephews. Private funeral arrangements by the Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph, NJ.
