Richard "Turkey" J. Mattison, 64, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, July 27th, 2016 at home surrounded by his family and friends following a good fight against cancer. Richard was born in Port Jervis, NY and has been a resident of Dover most of his life. He worked as a Sales Representative at Suburban Propane both in Whippany and Freehold. He retired after 43 years of loyal service. He was a member of the Dover Fire Department since 1973 and is the current fire chief. He has held various ranks and positions including chief in 1985, 1996, 2008, 2012, and 2016. He is survived by his wife Debra of 33 years; son Jason and his wife Kristin and two loving granddaughters Abigail and Morgan. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Dunster and her husband Ron, sister-in-law Melody Mattison and several nieces, nephews and two great-nieces. Predeceased by his parents Chester and Arline and his brother Michael. Visitation Monday, August 1st, 2016, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (tuttlefh.com) with a Firemen's service at 7:00 PM. Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016, 10:00 AM we will meet at Tuttle Funeral Home for a Firemen's procession to the Locust Hill Mausoleum Chapel, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Dover Fire Department, PO Box 389, Dover, NJ 07801 or SparKey's Angel's (www.sparkeysangels.com)-As a nonprofit organization SparKey’s Angels is dedicated to serve those who selflessly care for others and for those who require palliative care. By providing a kind and loving oasis we provide the opportunity to focus on their own spiritual, emotional and physical rejuvenation. We offer gentle therapeutic methods including: meditation, spiritual guidance, Reiki-energy work, light massage and a therapy dog. We are a mobile clinic that will come to the home. SparKey’s Angels will provide these services at no cost to the person receiving the care and the caregiver to help support them in all that they do.
