Obituary of Lawrence H. Berkowitz

Lawrence (Larry) Howard Berkowitz passed away at home on July 13, 2016 at the age of 51 following a courageous battle with cancer. Larry was surrounded by his loving wife, Renée M. Bergeron from New Orleans and his two daughters, Elizabeth (aged 9) and Emily (aged 7). Larry is also survived by his mother, brother and a multitude of friends and extended family.
Larry was born in Bayonne, NJ on January 16, 1965 and lived in Union, NJ before attending the Philadelphia College of Arts where he received Bachelor and Master degrees in Fine Arts. Larry and Renée were married in New Orleans in 2003 and lived in Randolph, NJ for the past 12 years.
Larry was a very talented graphic designer with a career in text book publishing. He worked for numerous companies including Houghton-Mifflin, Silver Burdett, Pearson and finally Scholastic before he became too ill to continue full-time. In the last year, Larry loved teaching technology to the students at St. Virgil Academy in Morris Plains where he was also an assistant basketball coach for his daughter’s team and the school photographer. In addition, he applied his artistic talents to several school activities including the annual musical theatre set and playbill.
Larry enjoyed photography, music, football, gardening, graphic design and traveling to U.S. and international locations with his family and friends. He was most happy spending time with his 2 daughters where he participated in all of their activities including Girl Scouts and Dance. He even took to the stage with his girls during their annual dance recitals to perform the Daddy/Daughter dance.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tuttle Funeral Home [272 NJ-10, Randolph, NJ 07869; www.tuttlefh.com]. Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 2-6pm with a prayer service to begin at 5pm.
