William J. Barth passed away on Saturday July 16, 2016 after an eight-month battle with cancer. He was 69. A native of Dover, NJ, Billy was a graduate of Dover High School. He attended Wilkes College and New York University. He was a singer/songwriter, sculptor, and astrologer. He worked as a translator and was fluent in English, French, and Greek. His life as a musician took him all over the world from his home base in London and later Paris. He was a pioneer in environmental activism in the 1970’s, establishing an early recycling program in Dover and with friends conducted a cleanup of a local section of the Rockaway River. While in England he signed with the RSO Record label and released his first record, “Woman.” In 2015 he released the CD “Dystopia.” Billy is predeceased by his parents Irene Poulos Barth & William G. Barth and his brother Thomas Barth. He is survived by his son Edward Barth of Tokyo, Japan, whose mother, Marion Newell-Price, resides in London, England; his brother Rob Barth and wife Marcie of West Orange, NJ; and his dear friend Mary Arthars Hagiwara. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph, NJ from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, with eulogies and music at 2:00 pm. There will be a private burial.
