Obituary of Harriet Rothstein Malkin

Harriet Rothstein Malkin, 92, of Mount Arlington, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2016, at St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover.
She was affectionately known as “Bubbe” to her loving four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Harriet was born on April 19, 1924 in Brooklyn, N. Y., to Clara and Louis Rothstein . Harriet grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and Montgomery, Alabama among a large and loving immediate and extended family.
Harriet was a “Balabusta” for her adult life and enjoyed cooking, entertaining, watching quiz shows and almost daily visits to Shop Rite. She also loved to spend time at slot machines in Atlantic City.
She and her late husband were members of the former Dover Jewish Center for many years where she was honored as Sisterhood’s Woman of Valor. Harriet enjoyed visits from grandchildren and great grandchildren, baking and cooking for them. She also enjoyed dining out with her friends for lunch and dinner, and was a “regular” at the Randolph Diner. During her life, she traveled extensively throughout the world.
Harriet is survived by her loving children Anita Kozakewicz (Skip) of Richmond, Virginia; and Nancy Hersh (Itzhak) of Landing, New Jersey; beloved grandchildren Beth Bendheim and Michael Kozakewicz, both of Richmond, Virginia, and Michael Hersh (Dawn) of Parsippany, New Jersey; and Scott Hersh (Michele) of Plainview, Long Island. She also leaves her adoring great-grandsons Ethan Hersh and Zachary Bendheim and great-granddaughters, Sydney Hersh and Amanda Hersh. Harriet leaves her cherished cousin Ada Rosen of Dover, New Jersey, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Harriet was predeceased by her husband, J. Perry Malkin.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 on Wednesday, June 15th, at Tuttle Funeral Home, Rt. 10, Randolph. www.tuttlefh.com. Interment will be at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Randolph.
