Obituary of David N Genung
David Nolan Genung
May 7 1960 – November 13 2024
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of David N. Genung, age 64, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. David passed peacefully on hospice care surrounded by his loved ones.
David was born in Lafayette, Indiana to Edward and Kathleen Genung and is one of seven children. He was a retail manager for most of his career. He married his first wife, Adele, in 1988 and had two daughters, Michelle and Cassandra, who he cherished all his life.
David was a die-hard NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. He would proudly wear his team’s apparel even when visiting rival areas such as New England. David was always supportive of his daughters in sports. He attended every football game when they were cheerleading. He enjoyed helping the girls when they played softball and cheered from the sidelines.
David had a green thumb, creating beautiful gardens around his home in Budd Lake. He loved to propagate plants and watch them grow. He had a love of music and was very proud of his extensive record collection. He went to many concerts during his younger days. Most notably, he was front row for the Rolling Stones at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia in 1981.
He moved into a nursing home full-time where he met and later married his second wife, Shawn.
His parents, Edward and Kathleen and brothers John and William predeceased David. David is survived by his wife Shawn; daughters Michelle and Cassandra; granddaughter Amelia; siblings Deborah (Wally), Karen, Ellen (Stephen), Timothy (Christine); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday November 17, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a Funeral Service to start at 1:30 p.m. located at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph, NJ.
