My Aunt Ruth who was my grandmother’s sister, passed this week at 106! I have told many of you about her and she lived in her home with her granddaughter and her greatgrand children for years taking care of her.
I would think about the span of the years in her life form the time of WW1 through now. All of the changes she has seen in this world including the covid lockdown!
I have many memories of Aunt Ruth and family gatherings at her house, in her yard with the gardens, including the silver dollar plants…. The swing-set, clothesline and railings made of plumbing pipes, because my uncle was a plumber, gatherings at Cedar Lake, at Mimi and Poppy’s and at my grandmothers.
Families are spread all over now a days and kids grow up with very different experiences but I immortalized Aunt Ruth with our 4 bean salad we served constantly at our cafe’ …. This was her recepie that I remembered and loved at family gatherings and I would tell guests about Aunt Ruth if they commented on the bean salad. Rest in Peace Aunt Ruth.
