Obituary of Kenneth Bruce Eicher

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kenneth Bruce Eicher, 81, passed away on June 17, 2024 in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania.

Son of Edna H. Eicher (Donadt), and Joseph W. Eicher, he was born October 20, 1942 in Jersey City, NJ. He graduated from Conestoga High School, in Berwyn, PA in 1961 and entered the US Army shortly after, serving proudly with the 7th Corp. at Herzo Base near Stuttgart, West Germany. Ken was assigned to the Army Security Agency, rising to the rank of E-5 Staff Sergeant. After his discharge, Ken earned his degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, while beginning a 35 year career with Deluxe Check Printers as a Senior Systems Analyst. Ken wed Josephine Eicher, nee Galofaro, on July 14, 1968 and cherished his 55 year marriage with his best friend and partner, raising their family in Mount Arlington, NJ. An accomplished road rally team, Ken and Jo enjoyed much fun and success as members of the Mustang Club of New Jersey. A lifelong amateur radio operator, Ken helped to establish and stayed active in his town’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) as well as his local chapters of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). In his retirement, Ken drove the Dial-A-Ride bus for his community’s seniors and disabled citizens, transported rescue dogs from kill shelters to new foster homes, and built a successful online sales business. He enjoyed their shore home in North Wildwood, NJ.

Ken is survived by his wife, and mother of his children, Josephine T. Eicher (Galofaro) of Mount Arlington, NJ and Glen Mills, PA; their daughter Jessica L. O’Hara of Thornton, PA and husband Michael J. O’Hara, and son Kenneth B. Eicher Jr. of Warwick, NY and wife Kate M. Eicher (Crowley); Six grandchildren: Michael J. O’Hara, Dillon C. O’Hara, Ella L. O’Hara, Erin F. Eicher, Abigail G. Eicher and Keene T. Eicher; sisters Susan Whetstone (Eicher) of Tucson, Arizona and husband Will Whetstone and Judi Eicher of Plainville, Massachuessetts and husband Harvey Smith, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Ken had been a rock to many as a faithful church elder, a community leader and volunteer. There was so much more to Ken than just a dedicated husband and father—though to his immediate family that was his greatest role—Ken was also a trusted friend and colleague, volunteer, car enthusiast, skier, sailor, runner, outdoorsman, handyman, and much much more.

Ken was a deeply beloved and compassionate husband, father, son, brother, son-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

We invite you all to share pictures and happy memories with his family. It is our wish that we laugh, reminisce and smile together through this difficult time.
