To the Pawchak Family- I am so sorry . I spent many years as Tara's coworker and friend, and hers is a real loss to all that was good . Tara was ALWAYS, without fail, hardworking and dedicated to the job, no matter what it was, and did it with aplomb and unfailing cheerfulness. I was a nurse to her unit secretary, and when she walked onto the unit to start her shift you could feel everyone take note and breath a huge sigh of relief as we all knew that she would have our backs and things would run smoothly. Her quick smile and hearty laugh always made the situation better, and if she was suffering , you never knew it, as she was unfailingly determined in her pursuit of her job and never complained. I was grateful to see her rise in the ranks of Unit Secretary to the final place I knew of which was the Office of Maternal Fetal Medicine. That to me was evidence that someone was paying attention and grabbed her up- to their unending relief, no doubt, as they got themselves a gem. The world will be a slightly less brightly lit place without our Tara, but I hope that her passing brings you peace that can come from knowing that she has freedom from pain or illness. Tara and I met in kindergarten... Tara had such a special way about her. Even when she was upset or frustrated about life she would laugh that laugh and sigh and just not get mad. Tara will forever be the kindest, gentlest, loving person I know. There are just so many memories but I think the one I'll go with is when Tara went with my family to Eagle Island for vacation and there was a bat in our room at night while we were sleeping. She was hiding under the covers, laughing as she asked my dad to get it out. That was Tara, laugh out her fear and frustration. There's probably better memories to share, but, you know, that was Tara, laughing instead of yelling. The world would be a better place if everyone was amazing as Tara.

Tara and I met for the first time over 25 years ago and it is difficult for me to process that I will never see her again. She meant so much to me and I will cherish every memory. Tara was an incredible blessing and a piece of my heart has died with her. She was always ready with a smile, a hug, a joke... anything you needed, she was always there. She had the most beautiful smile, contagious laughter, her sarcasm was epic, and she loved her family and close friends fiercely. It is impossible to pinpoint the one or two things I will miss most about Tara because I will miss it all.... every single thing.

I'm still not able to process this. I even called your phone to see if you would answer, truely hoping it was a misunderstanding. You are truely an amazing person and this life will never be the same without you. We met at work and quickly became friends, and I loved talking to you because of how intelligent, kind and funny you were. I don't know if anyone you've met will ever be able to replace the hole you're leaving behind. My dear friend you will forever be in my heart and I will miss you beyond words can ever express.
