Obituary of Betty Hazel MacNaughten

Betty MacNaughten “Nee Doggett,” 93, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 29, 2023, at home. Born in Dover, NJ in 1930 to Hazel and Richard Doggett. Betty attended and graduated from the Dover School System and the School of Berkley after which she worked as a Bank Teller and Legal Secretary before marrying Ralph MacNaughten in 1956. Together, they had two children, Richard of Mine Hill, and Sandra of Parsippany. She also leaves behind her angel health aid Salome Gogidze, and her pal, Penny the Dog.

Once her children were of school age, she became active in Boy and Girl Scouts, Church Choirs, and Sunday School/Vacation Bible School (First Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dover). She also volunteered as a Room Mother and joined the PTA. As a PTA member, she started the East Dover Elementary School Library in 1971. She was hired as a Library Aide in 1973 and retired from the job she loved in 2005.

She was an avid crafter and purveyor of Greeting Cards and Stickers. The greeting card companies will miss her dearly.

She loved working with children and leaves behind many great memories of the children and teachers who passed through the East Dover Elementary and Middle Schools.  

Visitation at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (tuttlefh.com) on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.

Funeral service 11am on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the funeral home.

Interment at Millbrook Cemetery, Randolph.
