Obituary of George E McClain

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

George McClain, loving and devoted husband to his wife Clara, passed from death to eternal life on Sunday afternoon at age 94. George and Clara professed their love for each other one final time Sunday morning, and Clara was by his side when George breathed his last.

George is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Evelyn McClain, and his sister, Marjorie Archibald. He is survived by his wife, Clara McClain, his cousin Gloria (Beach) Dunning, and several nieces and nephews.

George’s 42-year career as an engineering supervisor at Howmet was preceded by four years of service in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War. He has been a member of the Lake Hopatcong American Legion for 65 years. George loved to garden, sing, travel, and care for his home. He will be dearly missed by his relatives and his long-term church family. George was a breath of fresh air, greeting everyone with a smile, a kind word, and quick wit.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 19 at 10:30 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Randolph, followed by his interment at Locust Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to “Eleventh Hour Rescue” or “Make-A-Wish Foundation”. May George rest in the arms of his Savior. Amen.
