Patricia Ann Spano

6 June 1964 – 22 July 2023

Patricia Spano, beloved sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend left us after a long illness. Patty grew up in Bay Shore Long Island and was the daughter of Joseph (deceased) and Irene (now of Spring Hill, Florida).  The youngest of three, she was raised alongside older sisters Diane (m. Bob Bencze) and Lorraine (m. Eric Lazar). She graduated from SUNY Binghamton and thereafter was a lifelong resident of New York City.

Patricia was a gentle and kind soul and a person of strong faith. She never sought the lime-light and so some of her talents and gifts may have escaped notice.  For example, like her parents and sisters, she had a stunning voice, but only those close enough could hear her sing.   She was also a student of billiards and was quite a good shot. Patty loved the outdoors even as poor health robbed her of the opportunity. She was an attentive aunt to five nephews and nieces—John-Michael, Daniel, Paige, Kimberly, and Olivia. In addition to her family, she was loved by William Chase, a cherished friend. Though she did not have children of her own, Patty cared lifelong for rescue cats with unending devotion.

Patty’s family, in accordance with her wishes, have decided to plan a memorial occasion to celebrate her all too-brief life in the very near future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Humane Society of New York in recognition of Patty’s deep commitment to our four-legged friends who stand by us when we are in need.
