Obituary of Doris J Filippone

Doris J. Filippone, 93, of Ledgewood, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, at St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover. She was born in Jersey City to the late Angelo and Filomena Ambrosia. 

Doris loved shopping, theater and going out to eat with friends and family. She enjoyed day trips to Spring Lake with family. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was especially known for her famous eggplant parmigiana, and cheesecake. It brought her immense joy to feed anyone who came into her home. Doris loved the holidays, especially decorating. She was always smiling. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, the light of her life. She will be remembered for her sweet and gentle soul with a loving smile. 

 She is survived by her two daughters Karen Landrigan and her husband Dennis, and Janice Filippone; granddaughter Kelly Landrigan; sister Belle Haggart; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Settimo “Sonny” in 2009; three sisters Annemarie, Jean, and Josephine Ambrosia; and brother-in-law Daniel Haggart.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, 4-8PM at Tuttle Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 7, 2023, 10AM also at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
