Obituary of Wrisberg Eduardo Hinestrosa

Please share a memory of Wrisberg to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Wrisberg Eduardo Hinestrosa, 75, passed away on Monday June 5, 2023 due to natural causes.

Wrisberg was born an only child to Emma and Dr. Marcos Hinestrosa, M.D. in Bogota, Colombia on July 20,1947.  He was gifted in Chemistry and Math and attended college attaining a degree at the Grand Colombian School of Industrial Chemistry in Bogota, Colombia.  It wasn't uncommon to find him helping his grandkids with science or math projects, a passion for him that never felt like work.  He met his wife, Bertha Masad, in 1962 when he was 15 years old, and they were neighborhood friends and it was love at first sight. They married on June 20, 1970 at the Santiago Apostle Catholic Church in Bogota, Colombia where they both met and lived.  In 1971, Wrisberg and Bertha welcomed their first born daughter Ingrid.  In 1973, the family immigrated to the U.S, where they welcomed their second daughter Andrea in New Jersey and where they called it home for 50 years.  Later, they would welcome daughters Jennean and Wendy.  Wrisberg loved to work but equally balanced always being there for his family including never missing a dinner night, a family event or doing anything for his wife and beloved daughters.  He had a career in Industrial Chemistry and continued working in the field until 2022, until he had to retire due to his health.  Wrisberg wore many titles: husband, dad, grandfather, friend and the title he most chuckled at was when his daughters friends called him 'teddy bear' because of his calm demeanor, warmth and friendly smile.  He never said no to the little things like raspberry ice cream, carmels and a NY Strip dinner.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Emma, and his dad, Marcos.  He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Bertha Masad Hinestrosa, his four daughters Ingrid Torres, Andrea Kimmet, Jennean Hinestrosa, and Wendy Hinestrosa, his sons-in laws, and 3 grandchildren. He also has extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins in both Colombia and Florida.
