Obituary of Josephine Udina

Josephine “Jo” Udina, 75, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Saint Clare’s Dover Hospital after her long battle with cancer. She was born Josephine Carmela Napolitano on September 2, 1947 in New York City to Vita (Perrotta) and Nicholas Napolitano.

Jo was a resident of Mine Hill since 1973, Hillsboro Beach, FL since 2001, formerly of Fairview, NJ. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Udina with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.

She is survived by her sister Francesca Budds and her husband William; and her brother Nicholas Napolitano and his wife Eileen. Jo was a generous, loving mother and mother-in-law to her two sons Joseph and Christopher and their wives Lori and Jessica. She was a cherished grandmother to Joseph, Bryce, Ava and Cora. In 1965 she graduated from St. Cecilia High School in Englewood, NJ.

She was a former employee of Lever Brothers Research and Development, and the Dover Board of Education. She freely gave hours of volunteer time as an active member of both the Mine Hill Recreation Committee and PTA. Her hobbies included cooking, knitting and entertaining friends and family. One of her greatest joys was leaving New Jersey to “snowbird” in Florida where she would spend time sitting on the balcony and chatting by the pool and beach with her Florida friends. She will be greatly missed for the love she gave and the good times she shared.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 371 South Main Street, Wharton, NJ on June 23 at 5:30.
