Obituary of Charles Chuck A Throckmorton, III
Charles A. Throckmorton III, 91 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Chuck, as many called him, was born to the late Charles A. II and Florence (ne: Schmig), on February 19, 1932 in Montclair NJ. After graduating from Bloomfield High School in 1950, he attended Bucknell University for a short time. He was drafted into the United States Army for 2 years, spending 16 months in Korea. Upon return to New Jersey, he attended and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Starting a career as a CPA with Haskin and Sells in Newark, Jersey City, and New York City.
In 1959, he married the love of his life, Carol Hayward. They spent 52 blessed years together, until Carol’s death in 2011.
They were very active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Chuck volunteered for many of those years as the treasurer of the church’s preschool. Chuck was employed for over 30 years at Welsh Farms Dairy in Long Valley. He was instrumental in guiding the company into the computer age. After leaving Welsh Farms, he worked for Lutheran Brotherhood providing insurance and annuity solutions, before his retirement.
In his spare time he enjoyed blessing his family and friends with the many fruits of his hobbies. He kept a large vegetable garden, supplying food for almost the entire winter. He became a skilled woodworker, building many pieces of furniture & decorations. He especially took great pride in taking people out on Lake Hopatcong in his wooden boat.
He is survived by his brother David, daughters, Ruth Roberts (Brian), and Janice Rodland (Glen). 7 grandchildren: Brittany (Paul), Rebecca (Marcis), Tyler, Eric (Weyda), Matthew, Jared, and Elizabeth. And 3 great grandchildren: Jason, Grace, and Finneas.
