Q: What will you never forget about Thomas?
A: Tom and I grew up in a close -knit family as cousins and enjoyed memorable moments together. He became a treasured friend. He was always there to share his support and advice and could be counted on to give a helping hand when needed. My plans to remodel my kitchen, for example, would never have become a reality without Tom's guidance and assistance.
Tom loved sports and actively encouraged his family's participation in these activities. I fondly remember our family mixed league softball team and our skiing adventures on New Year's Day. There was never a dull moment with Tom around. He had a great sense of humor and loved to entertain us with his corny jokes and antics.
Tom was a problem-solver who faced life's challenges with a positive attitude and determination. He always searched for a way to make a situation better.
Tom cherished his family, friends, and community and showed a true love for life. His enthusiasm was contagious He set a fine example for us all.

I only knew Tom for the past 10 years of his life when the Connell family united with the Mills family on the engagement and marriage of our children, Debbie and Sean. I have always been inspired by Tom’s positive outlook at life, his resilience and his welcoming smile! His quick wit at a joke or reflexive comment at a conversation always added light enjoyment to any event. But his smile was what graced any occasion - especially at the presence of one of his grandchildren. His joy in celebration of life was contagious!

Q: What will you never forget about Thomas?
A: Tom was a good friend in high school, and always so easy-going. Always had a great big smile.
After our 50th high school reunion in 2017, I traveled to Morristown to visit Tom. Until that day, I had not seen Tom since our graduation in 1967. When I arrived, he was eating lunch. I didn't want to interrupt, so I just took a seat across the table from him and waited. Suddenly, Tom looked up, and just stared at me. Figuring that he probably did not recognize me after such a long time, I said to him, " Tom, I guess you don't remember who I am, do you?" Without any hesitation whatsoever, and much to my shock, Tom said, "You're Dennis Carey; Who else would you be?"
After all the years, and his health challenges, I was flabbergasted that he remembered. But, we spent a good forty minutes recalling other people, and events, from high school and Pequannock.
I shall miss my friend!
