Obituary of Anne M Armstrong
Anne M. Armstrong, age 92, of Rockaway Township NJ, passed away on February 18, 2023. She was most recently residing at an assisted living facility near Johns Creek, GA. Born in Larksville, PA on July 6, 1930 to the late Patrick and Anna Barrett. She was preceded in death by her husband John (Jack) Armstrong and daughter Nancy Hess; siblings Thomas, Eileen and the Reverend Philip F. Barrett, OSA. She is survived by her son John (Mona); granddaughters Kayla Armstrong and Rachel (Matt) Norwood. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Josephine and Brooks Norwood; and nephew Thomas (Audrey) Lawrence and family.
Anne was a graduate of St. Vincent’s High School of Plymouth PA; and College Miseracordia and earned a Masters of Education from Fairleigh Dickinson.
Anne was a resident of Rockaway Township since 1963 and was employed for many years as a teacher in Mt. Olive Schools District where she retired in 1990. She also taught for a brief time in Roxbury Twp., in addition to substituting in several other school systems while raising her young children. Anne also taught in Lake - Lehman High School in Lehman, Pennsylvania.
Anne spent her retirement years as caregiver to her grand-daughters, enjoying breakfast and lunches with fellow retired teachers; and performing volunteer receptionist duties at St. Clement Pope and Martyr Catholic Church in Rockaway Twp.
For those desiring, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Clements Pope & Martyr Roman Catholic Church 154 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Dover NJ 07801; or Wounded Warrior Project in memory of her brother Pvt Thomas P. Barrett who was in the US Army, who made the ultimate sacrifice in WWII.
