Obituary of Ann Kathleen Sekunda

Ann Kathleen Sekunda (1939-2023)

Ann Kathleen Sekunda was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She earned her wings and left this world on January 27, 2023, at the age of 83 and was finally reunited with the love of her life of 56 years, Richard J. Sekunda, who died in 2021.

Ann was born to Edward and Cecelia Dunn on July 14, 1939, in Tarrytown, NY. After graduating from high school, Ann went to work for TWA Airlines as a flight attendant. After a few years, she gave up that career to be closer to home and help care for her family. She then worked in various administrative roles and was amazing at shorthand, a lost art. 

In 1964, Ann met her husband and a year later they were married in Mount Pleasant, NY. After several moves, she and her family settled in Morris Plains, NJ for over 45 years. Ann is survived by her 4 beautiful children Richard (Karen), Kathleen (Glenn), Laura (Eric) and Glenn (Susie).  She leaves behind 10 grandchildren that filled her heart with joy, Tyler, Caroline, John, Kaitlin, Bryan, Tommy, Kacy, Ryan, Kellie, and Kevin.

Ann was also  preceded death by her granddaughter, Meagan who passed away on  January 5, 2023, and her brother Edward and his wife Ann.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral service on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 170 Bradhurst Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532. Donations in Ann’s honor may be made to the International Myeloma Foundation or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
