I learned recently of JoAnn's passing from our neighbor, Laura, and was truly shocked and sorry to hear the news. JoAnn's and my paths literally crossed on the street we (three) shared. It was always a delight to run into JoAnn--whether in the car or on a neighborhood walk. Her lively and warm personality brought out the conversationalist in me, and I always enjoyed our talks, whether commiserating over politics, sharing our love of the beach, or musing about where it was we really wanted to be living. I'm so sorry that her time in her new home was so brief; I hope it brought her pleasure. She certainly brought pleasure to me as my neighbor, and I will always think of her with fondness. My heart goes out to Doug and to your children and grandchildren. May JoAnn's memory be a blessing to you all. Heartfelt condolences from Ivy and Chris

Just heard about Joann's passing. My neighbor Andrea and I were trying to reach her the past few months. Sorry to hear of Joann's surprise passing. Her obituary was beautiful and described her thoughtfulness and caring nature to a tee. I enjoyed spending time with her after we both retired. Q: What will you miss most about JoAnn?
A: Daily phone calls that start with “Mother, Daughter” and “What are you doing?”…Jimmy Carter plantation peanut jokes; a friggin HAW !; saying “I love you and NO I love you MORE; going shopping for anything; trips to OP and Wildwood; playing the slots in AC or Mohegan Sun; good Cabernet Sauvignon, Bloody Marys and Margaritas; sushi; holding hands; spending time with the critters; political debates; talking about future trips and plans; Mother’s Day; Easter; Christmas; our birthdays- every day was a celebration and a gift - and I will be forever grateful…

Memories of my sister JoAnn are many, probably too many to mention so I will limit it to one!
My first real memory was around age 5 or 6. We lived in Marlton NJ and she was trying to teach me how to ride a bike without training wheels. She was so determined I was going to make it happen she walked the bike and me to the top of the church hill. We walked to the grassy side of that hill, gave me basic instructions, told me to get on and let go! Off I went completely out of control (all I could think about was how much my landing was going to hurt!) But I trusted her implicitly and you know what? Before I reached the bottom I was peddling, steering and riding my bicycle! I learned how to ride it!! She always, always had my best interest at heart! She was the sister of my heart and I will never ever forget her!
