Obituary of Oleksandra M Shot
Olekasandra Shot (Alex) was born November 19, 1948 in Shehyni, Ukraine.
She was a nurse in Ukraine, a caregiver, and a hospital laboratory phlebotomist in the United States. She received her education at Lviv in 1966 in Ukraine, and was married in 1969 to her husband Michael. They had four children, Ruslan, Angela, Arthur, and Vita. She is also survived by seven of her grandchildren, Inna, Lesya, Valeria, Leonid, Renata, Jasmine, and Amber. She was widowed at the age of 29, and raised her family alone without her husband.
She loved her family in Ukraine very much, but left her home and family to come to the United States in 1996. She worked very hard to be sure that her family had whatever they needed with their education and in their daily lives.
She became a U.S. citizen in 2009, and was so proud and happy to be a U.S. citizen. She returned to Ukraine a few times to see her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Alex was a very intelligent woman who loved life and living. Unfortunately her illnesses in recent years limited her opportunities to do the things she always did and wanted to continue to do. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt and was an excellent caregiver and cook.
Alex was loved very much by her family and friends and will be missed greatly by all.
She leaves a strong legacy of love with her family in the Ukraine and in the United States. She was predeceased by her mother Rosalia Matviy, father Nikolas Kozak, and her husband Michael Shot.
Friends and relatives are invited to her funeral service on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 North Jefferson Road, Whippany, NJ 07891, at 10:00 am.
