Obituary of Jane Ann Phillips

Jane “Janie” Phillips, 79, of Succasunna, NJ, passed away on Saturday, November 26, at Morristown Medical Center, following a recent stroke. Janie was born in Dover, NJ, on February 5, 1943. She was the beloved wife of Paul Phillips of Succasunna and devoted mother of Laura (Phillips) Longueira and her husband, Anthony, of Fairfield, CT, Joseph Phillips and his wife, Sara, of West Chester, PA, and Sara (Phillips) Longueira and her husband, Robert, of Long Valley, NJ. Janie was the daughter of William and Lilian (Buckingham) Hamilton and the sister of William “Billy” Hamilton (Martie), who predeceased her. Janie graduated from Dover High School and Dover Business College and previously worked as a typist at Bell Labs in both Chester and Whippany, NJ, and as a salesclerk at several local stores. She spent most of her years as a caring mother and homemaker for her family. Janie loved to travel and did so extensively with immediate and extended family members over the years. She loved playing the slots in Las Vegas, and visited every state but Hawaii, as well as many countries throughout the world. Among her favorite trips was to Brazil, with a river cruise on the Amazon. Janie was deeply connected to those she cared for and was known for sending cards to friends and family on every birthday and major holiday, talking to her daughters on the phone near daily, and helping to plan family reunions. She hosted many family holiday celebrations and baked many cakes, pies, and cookies. Janie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Paul; her children, Laura, Joseph, and Sara; and six adored grandchildren: Tony Paul, Timothy, and Elizabeth Longueira, Leah Phillips, and Robbie and Anna Grace Longueira. Visitation for Janie will be at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph on December 3, 2022, at 11 am, with a remembrance service to follow at 12 pm.
