Obituary of Doris L Bush
Doris L. Bush
08.06.1932 - 10.17.2022
Doris Lawrence Bush, age 90, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 17, 2022.
She is survived by her adoring husband of 68 years, Jim Bush, who was her high school sweetheart.
Their marriage produced 4 children; Doug, Curt (wife Aimee), Sandra (deceased), Amy (husband Chris), 8 grandchildren; Nicole, Jimmy, Malcolm, Dylan, Ariel, Natalie, Jordan, and Jeremy, and 4 great-grandchildren; Ben, Molly, Cullen, and Noam.
Doris was born in Randolph, NJ, and resided there until moving with Jim to Hackettstown’s The House of The Good Shepherd 1 year ago.
For many years Doris worked at a bank in Dover, and later as an administrative assistant at AT&T and Lucent Technologies.
Always active as a community volunteer, Doris donated much of her time to the Trinity Lutheran Church’s Soup Kitchen in Dover and taught adults to read at the Dover Library. She was the longest serving member of the Millbrook Methodist Church, attending services there since her birth. As a member of the congregation, Doris served on every committee and chaired several. She taught Sunday School, served many years as a Trustee, and was instrumental in the organization and running of their many events, including the Semi-Annual Rummage Sales. Millbrook Church was also the site of her marriage to Jim and the Baptism of all her children.
Once their kids were grown, Doris and Jim loved their getaways to Wildwood, NJ and many other memorable travels together.
Doris was an avid reader, belonged to the Randolph Library Book Club, and enjoyed many lasting friendships.
Her family and friends fondly recall the many holiday and birthday gatherings at their home, boat rides on Lake Hopatcong, making chocolate chip pancakes for her grandchildren, and countless barbeques and swim parties in the backyard, where all were welcome.
Doris will always be remembered for her sunny personality, warm smile, and her endlessly compassionate and giving nature. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Private services are planned for the family. Online remembrances can be shared on www.tuttlefh.com.
