There are so many wonderful memories growing up in Bloomfield with my friends Beth and Cathy. Mr Drury’s wonderful dry sense of humor and wit was never in short supply. I have so many memories of playing at their house, they had every game, summers in the pool and Mr Drury manning the grill. A great family man who completely enjoyed being a dad. A couple particular memories are the day Pat, about 5 years old, was mad at his parents, packed his little suitcase with his blanket & stuffed animal and ran away to my house. My mom called the Drury’s. Pat stayed at our house for a bit while my mom chatted with him and gave him a snack. Mr Drury picked him up, not upset with Patrick, but understanding and they walked home. Another memory, Mr Drury had an old, very loud jalopy of a car. He got a new vehicle and put the old one up at the gas station to sell. He was in his house and heard a loud car and thought that sounds like the junker I got rid of. Looked out front and it was my dad who had bought it because his car was completely done and he had to have something fast. I moved to MD in ‘76 and the Drury’s to Randolph in ‘77. I am so grateful Beth and Cathy and our friend Lisa, who we all grew up together, have stayed close all these years.

I pretty much spent every day over at 10 Club Street with Drury family for my child hood and Mr. Drury was a larger than life figure for me growing up with so many memories. I was in awe on how Mr. Drury could build things. And around the dinner table (which I frequented; the meatballs were really good!) Mr. Drury could tell a story or a joke like no other. The punch line was always classic. I loved listening to them. I have many memories so I’ll share a small but poignant one. When we were kids and went in the car with Mr. Drury, Pat and me would sit up front which was a treat in itself. As little kids, sitting up front made us feel important and I think Mr. Drury knew that (and yes that was way before there were any seatbelt laws in case anyone was wondering). We just started this spontaneous game on who could squeeze the others knee the hardest until one of us couldn’t hold it in any longer and laugh. I couldn’t get enough of it. It was just the guys having a little fun and a laugh. The ride with Mr. Drury was most definitely better than anywhere that we could have possibly been going. It’s a small story but I still remember like it was yesterday and that was now over 50 years ago! So in homage, the ride may have come to an end but great memories live on. And I’ll circle back to what I started with, Mr. Drury was a larger than life and important figure for me growing up and into adult hood!
Sincerely ‘The famous Richarrdd”

Mr Drury was the man that every boy of his generation strived to be. Military carrier. Hard working union ironworker. Built a house for his wife and five kids who he loved and centered his life around and taught his son life lessons in the process that he carries with him today. You meet thousands of people in a lifetime but only a few that influence you. Mr Drury was one of those few for me.
Mr Drury, I’m sure you’re enjoying a nice big piece of apple pie right now! Thank you for always making me feel so welcome in your home.

who we are:
Tuttle Funeral home was designed as a funeral home by funeral home architects and designers. Unllike many funeral homes that were originally old homes and then were converted into funeral homes.
Though it was designed as a funeral home, it still provides the warm comforting feeling of a home, but with more space and an open feeling.
