Obituary of Douglas Peter Rauch Jr
Douglas Peter Rauch, Jr., age 70, passed away quietly at home from cancer on May 20,2022, in the company of his loving wife, Helen, and sister-in-law, Sula.
Doug was born on August 15, 1951 to parents Rosalie Sturiale and Douglas Peter (Pete) Rauch Sr., in Teaneck, NJ. Doug grew up in Upper Saddle River, NJ, and graduated from Northern Highlands Regional High School in 1969, where he excelled at soccer. He graduated with an architecture degree from Syracuse University in 1973. Over the years, Doug lived in various locations, including Syracuse, Sugar Loaf, Tuxedo Park, and Budd Lake. For many years Doug & Helen used their many artistic and business talents to run their construction company, HDR Inc.
Doug was an avid tennis enthusiast as well as a proficient downhill skier. He loved music and wrote poetry and his life’s work “The Book of Life”. He was the composer and orchestrator of many songs related to celebrating family and love and also authored many children’s books.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife Helen, son Jon Michael, daughter Jaime Nicole, sister Diane, and brothers Brian and Steve, as well as many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended and friends.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00PM, at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (tuttlefh.com). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, 10:00 AM at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, Randolph NJ. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ
