Obituary of Beverly R. Keegan
Beverly R. Keegan (nee Hemmes), 79, of Randolph, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 7, 2022. She was born and raised in Staten Island and married Robert Keegan, also of Staten Island, in 1964. They lived in Austin, Houston, and Garnerville, NY before settling in Randolph 46 years ago.
She was the original Soccer Mom, a devoted Duke basketball fan, avid murder-mystery reader, and an award winning dog handler. She doted on her grandchildren and always sat patiently with them as they struggled through reading their first books. Later she blew their minds with her mastery of both shorthand and Italian – talents she’d previously used to keep her nosy children in the dark. She was the family Wii bowling champ thanks to her years in the Dover Lanes bowling league where she perfected her signature leg kick. Holiday dinners will never be the same without her stuffed shells and meatballs.
Bev was predeceased by her husband, Bob, and her son, Matt, in 1997. She suffered immeasurable loss yet carried on through her devout faith, love of her children and grandchildren, and the support and comfort of her loving and loyal friends.
She is survived by John Keegan, Myles Keegan, Kelly Barton, Stacey Hemmes, Edward Hemmes, Deborah Hemmes, their spouses, and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home. A second visitation will occur on Wednesday, May 18 from 9:30-11:30 AM also at the funeral home. A mass will begin at 12:00PM at St. Matthew's R.C. Church, Randolph. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Robert and Matthew Keegan Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o MCYSA, 3 Bromley Court, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
