John S Swierzbinski, of Manchester, New Jersey died peacefully in his sleep after a long illness on Monday, November 9th, 2015. He was 91 years old.
Born in Jersey City, John was the fourth of five brothers. He enlisted and served as a Sergeant for two years in WWII under General Patton in Central Europe. He received the Bronze Star, European Campaign Medal, Good Conduct medal and WWII Victory Medal.
After his honorable discharge and return home he met the love of his life, Irene Nebosky and they were married for 68 years. They had two children.
For most of his career he worked for NY Bell, later becoming part of Verizon, starting as a cable puller and retiring 30 years ago from a management position.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hedwig and Adolf Swierzbinski,
His brothers Joseph and wife Albina, Stanley and wife Celina and brothers Tony and Edward (Father Ed), sister in law, Dorothy and brother-in-law Ed.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, sisters in law, Natalie Swierzbinski and Jean Nebosky, children Michael and Diane Swierzbinski of Beach Lake, Pa and Susan and John Zaffiro of Normandy Beach, as well as four grandchildren, Justin Zaffiro of Los Angeles, Kristin and James Bayes of England, Michael and Stacey Swierzbinski of Maryland with one great-grandchild Jackson, Matthew and Karen Swierzbinski of Maryland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation Friday, November 13th, 2015, 4:00-8:00PM, at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Mass Saturday, November 14th, 2015, 10:00AM, at Resurrection Parish, Randolph. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.
