Obituary of Benedicto Acevedo

Benedicto “Benny” Acevedo passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18, 2022 in Dover, NJ. Benny was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on October 8, 1941.  He has been a part of the Dover community since 1961.

 

Always a hard worker, Benny cherished the memories and the friendships made while working for Peers Moving, Pabco Transit, and Dover High School. Throughout his time in Dover, he could be found at the Aguada Social Club (now Casa Puerto Rico) in his younger years, and later on his front porch along East Blackwell St, or cruising the streets of the town.  For those who loved him, he will be remembered for his sharp wit and particular laugh.

 

Benedicto is survived by his four children, Jose (Robert) Acevedo, Celia (Didy) Chaparro, Amy (Malena) Acevedo, Sarita Echevarria, his 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and his loving partner of 36 years, Cecilia Galloza, her children and grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents: Antonio and Barbara Acevedo, a grandchild, Anthony J Chaparro, and 5 siblings.

 

As we grieve, we are certain he would look at us and say, “Why are you crying?”

 

Visitation Friday, February 25, 2022 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com).  Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Dover for 9:30AM on Saturday, February 26, 2022.  Interment at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.

 

Family requires wearing masks at the funeral home and at the church.  Thank you.
