Obituary of Robert Howie

Robert Howie, 91, died on October 20th, 2015 at his home in Rockaway. Mr. Howie is survived by his wife, Patricia, and five children: Kris Richter, Brent Howie, Gregg Marcial, Samuel Howie, and Jon Howie. He is also leaves nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Robert, the only child of Scottish Immigrants, Samuel and Belle Fraser Howie, was born in Jersey City on September 21, 1924. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific Theater and earned several medals, including the Philippine liberation ribbon, Good conduct medal, and two Bronze service stars. He later graduated from Rutgers University, under the GI Bill, with a degree in chemical engineering. Mr. Howie started work in the textile industry and then owned several companies in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Robert began employment with the Department of Defense in 1962 and retired from Picatinny Arsenal, Rockaway Twp, in 1987. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 1st 2015 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph, NJ (www.tuttlefh.com).
