Obituary of Steven Thomas Hardiman
Stephen Thomas Hardiman, 79, of Independence Township, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in New York City, NY, on April 2, 1942 to Helen Edna (Harris) and James Stephen Hardiman.
He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Hofstra University, a Master of Arts degree in mathematics from Queens College of CUNY, and a Ph.D. in statistics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He went on to enjoy a career in pharmaceuticals and retired from Cephalon, Inc. in 1997.
Throughout his life, some of Steve’s favorite activities included reading science fiction books, reading scientific journals, country music, doing math puzzles, and dispensing wisdom to his children. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his cat Lucky.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Kafka, son, Thomas Hardiman and his partner Lorraine Hunt, daughter, Deborah Hardiman, and granddaughter, Emily Kafka. He is also survived by his brother, John W. Hardiman and sister-in-law Debbie Hardiman, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Stephen is predeceased by his parents James and Helen Hardiman, and his sister Barbara Dorrler.
