Obituary of Eleanor Stanton

Eleanor Stanton (nee Ceccomancini), affectionately known to her children and grandchildren as “Mimi” and “Jazzymimi” , to her family and friends as Ellie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 10, 2021 with her sons by her side. A kind and loving woman, Ellie continued to display her grace and gratitude in her final days by frequently saying, “Thank You,” “I Love You,” and “God Bless You” to everyone around her. She was 93 years young.

Ellie was a devoted mother to her four sons: Bob (wife Cindi); Jim (wife Jett); John (wife Carolyn); Dave and daughter-in-law Darlene.  She was a wonderful grandmother to her five grandchildren: Lauren, Lisa, Jonathan, Yuri and Lila (Van Dyke); loving great grandmother to Weston Van Dyke and August Van Dyke; and cherished aunt to her five nieces and two nephews.

Ellie was born on October 19, 1927 and raised in Dover, NJ.  She was the beloved daughter of Valentino and Mary Ceccomancini and sister to Anne (Cashen) and Josephine (Miller), who all predeceased her.

Ellie was a joyful woman who loved to dance!  She enjoyed “tearing up the floor” to the music of Frank Sinatra and to the “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack.  She was arm dancing and clapping in her bed this past Easter Sunday, with her family singing and dancing by her side.  

She was very curious and liked to hear all about your latest vacation or upcoming trips, and enjoyed playing cards with her neighbors Barbara Griswold and Ralph Elgesem.

Ellie was the owner of Eleanor’s Beauty Salon “For a Lovelier You” in Dover for many years.

The viewing will be held on Thursday, April 29 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, with the service immediately following at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph, NJ 07869, (973) 366-7400 (www.tuttlefh.com). Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dover.
