Obituary of James Albert Mitchell

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James Albert Mitchell 76 of Newton New Jersey passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 4:35 AM in Newton Memorial Hospital,  after a long battle with various health conditions. He was born on December 21, 1944 at South Amboy hospital.

He is survived by his daughter Denise Nolan and husband Brian Nolan and his grandchildren Brian Jr 29, Billy 26, Jonathan 14, and Samantha 12, and his son David Mitchell and granddaughter Sierra 15. He is also survived by his sibling Gail Adamo, of South Carolina and his late brother Jack and sister Mickey  joining them in heaven. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was 20 years of age when he joined the Army in September 1964 where he served for three years and was honorably discharged. He worked as a self-employed landscaper in the late 60s  and then in the mid 70’s he had the opportunity to get into the painters union where he was until he retired. He was a perfectionist at painting, and was excellent at it because he loved it.

He was a sports fan of football and loved the Jets. He had a passion for the outdoors and he would go hunting and fishing as much as he could. He would go on yearly fishing trips to Canada and hunting trips to PA with family and friends, which he looked forward to every year.

He moved to Newton New Jersey to the Liberty Towers in 2013 where he became friends with some of the residents. They were a small community and helped each other with their daily life.

Although our dad is not here physically, he will always be in our hearts, and we will always have our memories of him. This will always keep him close to us. He will be deeply missed and loved and will forever be held in our hearts.
