Obituary of Josephine Carfaro
On Saturday, January 2, 2021, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Josephine Carfaro, suddenly passed away at age 103. She was the loving mother of Angelo Chiani of Naples, Fl, grandmother of Alexis Chiani of Denver, CO, and sister of Mildred Sivisky who presently resides at Regency Grande in Dover, NJ. Josephine Carfaro, lovingly known as Sue, was a resident of Regency Grande Nursing Home in Dover, NJ for twelve years who provided daily loving care. She was a life long resident of Dover where she attended high school and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She was born April 20, 1917 in Dover, NJ to the late Concetta and Samuel Saporitola, Italian immigrants. Sue is predeceased by her siblings Orlando Saporitola, Jenny Panetta, James Saporitola, Mary Gula, Carman Saporitola, Elvina (Larry) Johnson, and her nephew Glen Sivisky. She married Angelo Chiani in 1939 who was involved in a fatal automobile accident in 1942 before the birth of their son Angelo. She married Salvador Carfaro in 1953.
She was employed by Picitiny Arsenal as a powder bag seamstress and Lions Hospital where she took care of our veterans. Our memories of Sue will last forever. She was the glue that held the family together. One phone call and she was there to help no questions asked. She had a great sense of humor and loved family gatherings. Special thanks and loving thoughts to dear friends William and Mary Degise and family, the Sarno family, Gloria and Jane Waszo, and her nephew and wife Dr. Billy and Elesa Johnson.
