Obituary of Dale L Giambattista
Dale Giambattista passed away quietly at Regency Grande in Dover, NJ on December 31st after 96 years of life. He was born Oct 3, 1924 in Standish, NY to parents Louis & Caroline Giambattista. He was the oldest of 4 siblings: Tom, Clint and Theresa. He is predeceased by wife of 59 years, Mildred Giambattista. He is survived by daughters Nora and Don Miller of Mine Hill, NJ & Millie and Pete Wolf of Myrtle Beach, SC; 3 grandchildren, Sarah and Stephan Zydon, Amy and Mike Martin and Chris Millar of Myrtle Beach, SC. Dale also had 6 fun and loving great grandchildren, Carlie, Wyatt, Morgan, Sadie, Tess and Josie. He also had many nephews and nieces scattered throughout the country.
Dale was a proud Navy veteran. He attained the rank of BM3 while serving in WWII. He enlisted in NYC. From NYC he attended boot camp as a See Bee in Williamsburg, VA then on to Bainbridge, MD and onto the USS Amick for three years. He earned the Asiatic Pacific Area, American Area, Navy Good Conduct, Victory and European African Middle Eastern Area metals during WWII. He was also on the USS Coral Sea and stationed at Brooklyn Navy Yard and Norfork, VA. He loved to collect info on all Navy ships and tell all who he came in contact with about his time in the Navy. He worked at Picatinny Arsenal for 30 years as a security guard. He patrolled, took pictures for ID cards, and fingerprinted all who worked there. He was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Many hours were spent with his family both at church and around the dining room table.
He was a member of the Bethlehem Church, American Legion, and the VFW. He had a lovely singing voice and was in the choir at church. His favorite song to sing was “He touched me.”
Visitation at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph,( www.tuttlefh.com ) from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Monday, January 11, 2021 with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment is at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to First Choice Women’s Resource Centers: https://1stchoice.org/
