Just some thoughts I would like to share with all of you about our beloved Jackie.
When I think about the impact Jackie had on my life it brings me to tears that she’s not here for us anymore. From the minute I met her back in the early 1960’s it was love and admiration right from the start. After my brother married her, I was so thrilled to have a beautiful, sweet, thoughtful sister.
Jackie has consistently provided me and everyone with the perfect example of an angel on earth. I feel bad that I bored her with my nonsense stories and dramas related to some friends as well as some family members. She patiently listened to me, sympathized and offered her interpretation, which was always the most sound advice.
I so loved talking with her and Erv. I cherish those wonderful times when we spent hours sitting around the kitchen table, or our long phone conversations.
When our Kyle was born, I asked Jackie, what’s the recipe for raising kids as wonderfully as she did. Her response was to provide the children with the best you know how, and then when they grow up, you need to hope you did a good job, and you have to let them go on their own.
I loved how both Jackie and Erv provided love and guidance to Kyle and Colin. My children have been so very lucky to have such a devoted and loving aunt and uncle in their lives. And how fortunate were they to have Jackie and Erv help celebrate their every accomplishment?
Why did I love Jackie so much:
I loved how she listened.
I loved how she smiled and laughed.
I loved how she made sure everyone was comfortable.
I loved how she never flaunted her intelligence, and in my opinion she was the most wise of us all.
I loved how proud she was of her family, and rightly so.
I loved how she went out of her way to accommodate everyone’s wishes and preferences.
I loved how thoughtful she always was.
I loved how she entertained, and the pride she took in entertaining.
I loved how her home was open to everyone, and how she made your feel when you were there with her.
I loved her cooking.
I loved her baking.
I loved her appetizers.
I loved her wisdom.
I loved how she used the art of coloring as a stress reducer.
I loved that she could do the NY Times crossword puzzles in ink in no time at all.
I loved the way she decorated her surroundings because they were filled with her classy style.
I loved how humble she was.
I loved how she loved all of us.
With deepest sympathy,
Linda
