Obituary of Steven John Smozanek

Steven John Smozanek Born: December 3, 1922 Died: August 2, 2015 Port Saint Lucie Florida Formerly of both Summit and Dover New Jersey Born and raised in Summit, after his father’s early death, Steven quit high school to work on the Delaware Lackawanna and Western railroad to help support his family. He later joined the United States Navy, serving from 1942 to 1945 with a rank of Carpenters Mate, Second Class (T) (CB) USNR serving honorably until the war’s end. He served in the Seabees in both LST and Cargo Assault Ships including combat during the Battle of Okinawa. He married Felicia Grezlakowsky of Bowlbyville in Dover and moved there to build their home and family. He worked as a welder for Dover Tank and Stack Co. and Heil Co. of Hillside, NJ. He then worked for over 25 years at Westinghouse Elevator in Randolph, NJ as both a welder and general foreman. He finished his career at Art Wire/Dudaco of Hanover, NJ. He is survived by his brother Daniel and sister-in-law Ruth of Port Saint Lucie Florida and by his sister Peggie (Margaret) Pryzybyzwski of Pennsacola, Florida as well as his son Thomas, daughter-in-law Kelly and grandchildren Gabriel and Julia of Califon, NJ. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Locust Hill Mausoleum, Dover, NJ.
