Stephen Nicholas Farkas Loving father and grandfather, Stephen Nicholas Farkas, 74, of Morris Plains, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2020 at Morris View Health Care Center. He fought valiantly against diabetes and cancer for many years before succumbing to the diseases. Steve was born in Manhattan on March 31, 1945. He was raised in New York City in the early years before moving to Long Island where he served as an altar boy at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Rocky Point, New York. He attended Port Jefferson High School and met the love of his life. Steve was married for more than 30 years to his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Browne. They have two children Stephen (Steve) and Patricia (Trisha). He took an active role in supporting both of his children in the community from coaching little league baseball to enjoying weekly trips to the stable to ride horses with his daughter. He was also her number one fan at her competitions as an equestrian. He was a joyful fishman and enjoyed outings on his boat in the summer months. He also loved to cook from scratch as both his parents were accomplished chefs and his specialties were homemade pizzas, tomato sauce and eggplant parmesan, which later went far beyond his home kitchen. He was a kid at heart who loved games, especially chess and was always the dad who would load up the car for trips to Carvel. He was an avid fan of both the NY Giants and NY Yankees. He was a member of Knights of Columbus in Rocky Point, New York. He was always the type of person who could fix anything from items around the house to developing innovative solutions in his professional life. Steve had an entrepreneur’s spirit. He opened a packaging and shipping company that he ran until one of his clients enticed him to join their company. He then worked for several at years at US Dynamics as a purchasing agent to source specialized parts to support major manufacturing projects around the world. Later in life, he decided to pursue his dream and open a restaurant. He opened Tuscany’s Restaurant in Asheboro, North Carolina. It quickly became one of the top Italian eateries in the area and was recognized with outstanding reviews and sold out evenings. Steve was preceded in death by his father Stephen, his mother Anna and his sister Anna. Steve is survived by Steve Farkas and his wife Marianne, Trisha Coyne and her husband Tom, and his four grandchildren Patrick Coyne, Erin Farkas, Lauren Coyne and Stephen Farkas and his sister, Julie DeBari and loving nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Morris View Health Care Center for their loving support. Inurnment will be held later at Gate of Heaven in East Hanover, New Jersey. The family will be scheduling a time in the future for a celebration of his life to be announced.
