Obituary of Horton Miller

Horton Miller passed away on Monday, August 26th, 2013. He was 83. He lived in the Millbrook Section of Randolph all of his life. He retired from the Army Research and Development Center at Picatinny Arsenal as a Maintenance Supervisor in 1987. He served with the United States Army Corp of Engineers from 1949 to 1950. Upon completion of his active duty service, he served five years in the U.S. Army Reserves. Horton was very proud of his service as a Fireman in the Millbrook Fire Co. where he served as a past Chief and past President of the Millbrook Fireman’s Association.
Horton was an avid hunter and clay target shooter. He loved the woods and being outdoors. He was a charter member of the Ironia Outdoorsman, a member of the Picatinny Rod and Gun Club and the Sparta/ Lake Mohawk Shooting Club. He was also an Endowment member of the National Rifle Association. His hobbies were many and varied, from making gun stocks and working with stained glass. He was known to family and friends as “Mr. Fix It.”
Horton is predeceased by his loving wife and best friend of 55 years, Eleanor “Vera” (Nee DiDomenico), who passed to the hands of God in April 2009. He is also predeceased by his brothers Vernon and Bruce, and his sisters, Lois Vanderhoof and June Zyskowski.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eliana Maria, and her daughters, Alejandra and Yulisa. He also leaves his nephew and best buddy, Charlie Brady and two of the best sister-in-laws a person could be blessed with, Helen Brady of Ledgewood and Virginia Miller of Randolph, as well as several loving nieces and nephews who opened their homes to him and “Aunt V” over the years for holidays and special occasions.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, August 29th, 2013 from 3PM-5PM and 7PM-9PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph, (www.tuttlefh.com). The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30th, 2013 at 10AM, also at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Randolph.
