Obituary of Harold M. Weasner

Harold Weasner,87, of Succasunna, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 with
his family at his bedside. Mr Weasner was born in Seymour,Indiana, the oldest of
4, to Clara and Carl Weasner, met his loving wife Marie at Indiana University in
Bloomington where they both graduated from college. Mr Weasner received his BA
from IU and an MA from the University of Virginia in Psychology.
Harold served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. During his 1st tour,
he was on a light cruiser and two heavy cruisers. These ships visited Guam,
Okinawa, the Philippines and Japan. Harold was also on a destroyer for two years
which was the last ship to visit China prior to the communist takeover. This
ship went to Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tsingtao. His 2nd tour took him to Cuba and
the Virgin Islands.
Later , Harold, Marie and his 2 daughters, Linda and
Karla moved to NJ and settled down in Roxbury Township and never moved again.
Harold retired from Picatinny Arsenal in 1989 with over 37 years of Government
Service.
Mr Weasner was an active member of the ROXBURY EVER YOUNG SENIORS
and belonged to AARP, American Psychological ASSN., Sigma Xi, Chi Gamma IOTA,
the Dover Elks and St. Therese Church. He enjoyed going on the senior trips with
"sweet" Marie, playing bridge, reading and traveling and cruising with his
family.
Harold is survived by Marie, his adoring wife of 64 years;
his two daughters, Linda McMahon and Karla (her
husband Steve) Haydu; four wonderful grandchildren, Nikkol, Austin (his
wife Dana),Sara and Christina; his two adorable great grandkids are Rory and
Tyler and a younger brother Michael in Arizona and a sister Shirley Young in Florida.
He is predeceased by a younger brother Paul.
Visitation Wednesday, August 12, 2015, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Mass Thursday, August 13, 2015, 10:00 AM at St. Therese Church, Succasunna. Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Roxbury Township Police, EMT, or Fire Department.
